TERESA OF AVILA as a Guide to Grounded Devotion
Time & Location
About The Event
The 16th-century Spanish mystic, Teresa of Avila, is known for her dynamic balance between deep inner quiet and fiery passion, between intellectual rigor and devotion to the Beloved, between contemplative life and practical action. In her masterwork, The Interior Castle, Teresa unfurls seven stations of the journey inward to the center of the soul where she shows us the Holy One dwells, beckoning us into loving communion. In this gathering:
- We will explore the unique flavor of each of these landmarks as touchstones for our own transformation, paying special attention to the practical ways we can incorporate the insights of this mystical genius into our own lives.
- Through contemplative readings, "dharma talks," small group discussion, guided writing exercises and spiritual practices from numerous traditions, participants will be able to galvanize and activate Teresa's potent transmission.
- This course will help forge a relationship with Teresa of Avila as an accessible ancestor and ally moving forward.
